NSNA-Memphis

Greetings North Carolina Nursing Students,

I am delighted to say that I had an absolute blast at the Memphis NSNA conference a special thanks to Sharon Cooney for sponsoring my trip. This year was the 29th Mid-Year conference and was features at the Downtown Memphis Cook Convention center. During my time at the NSNA Conference I was able to attend the Council of State Presidents and enjoy the opportunity to share ideas with other state presidents about all the things that have worked and haven’t worked in various areas such as increasing membership and convention ideas. I was also able to hear Sally Karioth, PhD, RN speak on the topic compassion fatigue, I encourage you to attend any event in which she is the speaker as she was phenomenal also check out the books she has written one of which is titled “If You Want To Know If You’re Dying, Ask the Cleaning Lady (And Other Thoughts On Life and Happiness). The next night we were able to listen to Karen Daley, PhD, MPH, RN, FAAN and President of the American Nurses’ Association speak on her needle stick injury, which sparked a nationwide campaign to initiate safety needles into everyday practice. Well that’s all I can write for now…I’ve got to go catch my flight. North Carolina bound. Goodbye Memphis!
